Are you preparing to trade in your PDA and cellphone for a Smartphone? Here are the basics…
A Smartphone is basically a cellphone and PDA combined, allowing regular phone communication along with email and text messaging. Internet, fax, and data transfers between your office computer and the Smartphone are also included. There are some pros and cons to consider when preparing to switch over to the Smartphone solution:
Smartphone Internet Makes it Easier
Carrying just a Smartphone, there’s one less thing to lose. You have Internet access to check email, search for directions, or quickly find info. Scaled-down versions of popular computer applications are available. You use a keyboard instead of a phone pad, making it easier to type longer messages with ease.
Some Things to Consider About the Smartphone
The initial investment is about three times as much as a regular mobile phone including the additional fees for the network service access which supports Smartphone features. If you’re hooked on a small mobile phone, the Smartphone may seem large and awkward for calling. It may take a bit of time to get used to using the Smartphone. It can be a bit difficult to read text-heavy messages on the smaller screen. Navigating around the Smartphone and using all of the features requires a bit of a learning curve. Ready to invest in a Smartphone? Which one will you buy and what factors affect your decision?
Selecting the Right Service Contract is Critical
Before purchasing hardware, examine the plans that various service providers are offering very carefully. If you plan to purchase the hardware and plan together, you may get a good discount. Evaluate your plan coverage and usage fees as charges can be costly. It’s important to know exactly what the terms are before the first the bill arrives.
Then Choose Your Smartphone Model
After selecting a plan which suits you, your choice of a Smartphone model will be narrowed. Which features are unnecessary for you? The MP3 player and camera may be nice to have, but the big files could clog up memory and make browsing the Internet very slow.
Is the Smartphone Really for You?
Allow some time to play around with the device, to make sure your Smartphone is easy to use. If it isn’t, you may want to add a Bluetooth device to the set-up. Consider the weight of the Smartphone. It’s nice to have lots of memory, but is the device so unpleasant to carry that you wouldn’t use it? Look at how things are organized on the Smartphone. Does it make sense o you? Can you to find what you want? You may consider purchasing additional software for your Smartphone to customize it to your personal style.
Smartphone Synchronicity
Now that you have a Smartphone, there is free software available; but the standard for Smartphone synching appears to be Microsoft Windows Mobile for Smartphones 5.0. For a review of the Smartphones packaged with Microsoft Windows Mobile, visit Microsoft online.

Can you get a smartphone without a smartphone plan at Alltel now that Alltel is basically Verizon?
I am somewhat planning to buy a smartphone on eBay or at retail pricing and then activating it on my basic plan. Is this possible now? Will it remain possible once Alltel becomes Verizon? How do I do this, just buy the phone, activate it online/over phone?

LOL HTC G1 above the iphone…the funner phone ROFL…this is as bad as when I heard nickleback is band of the decade…buahahaha?
wifi is a phone feature, it should work without any data plan. Data plans are more for email, web surfing etc. Use a wifi hotspot or unsecure network and surf away.
alltel customer's are staying on alltel plans until they decide to upgrade their plans, at which point they will have to change to a verizon nationwide plan. all smartphones do require a data plan, which start at $29.99.
what is the name of the song?
thanks
why did you put the iphone in 6th it should of been in first because all the other phones just try to copy the iphone
awesome.. simply awesome.
the iphone isnt the best tech, its barely above toddler level. like he said, the droid (really all android phones) are much more powerfull, and growing very fast.
Theres a new android on the market every 2 weeks, apple will need to make a 3gs2, i3g, i3gs, 4g and etc. each month, just to hold on to the soles of our shoes.
Enjoy these last few months apple fans, were here to stay.
Since apple knows that N97 will compete in the market, they made 3gs to compete and too bad, N900 dominates the market now. it is the best smartphone you can ever have currently so apple is making 4g to try and take on the challenge from Nokia. Ohter phones like HTC and droids will be top competitors later on but for now they rush things too much and there seems to be flaws in their products.
I would wait until June/July when Verizon comes out with Niagara which really is the CDMA version of Bold
Check out the new palms…I had the pre for a month and in my opinion the new palm operating system is very underrated. automatically syncs all your contacts and the phone is super easy to use and has pretty intuitive gestures. second to that I would say iphone, android is more for the geek or power user and blackberry os isn't up to par. Palm has two phones out the pre and pixi. The pixi is a slimmer, sleeker, and smaller version of the pre without the sliding mechanism but it's a little slower and it doesn't have wifi and the screens a bit smaller. If you can live without all that, I'd recommend the pixi, if not get the pre. Sprints plans are cheap to compared to verizon and att. Btw, buy it on amazon for 25 bucks don't go to the store or it'll cost you 100.
even if it was free, i wouldnt want crap made by apple lol.
your spamming the wrong video man, this is for smart phones, not fanboys who dont realize they’ve already lost.
Yes it is wap.getjar.com
u'll get 1000's of soft for free.
long paragraphs i think the voyager is probably your best bet because they keyboard is huge.
PALM PRE IS THE BEST, MINE IS MY LIFE!!!
If you'd like a Nokia check N-series phones like the N93, N95, N80, or E-series like E51. Sony Ericsson has the P1, and BlackBerry has the Curve 8320. If you'd like a windows mobile smartphone, check out the HTC P3600 or HTC touch. All those phones have wifi for mobile internet / email.
ok , cut the crap , going through all comments, here is the final result for the TOP 100 smart phones ever made in the history of human being :
1- HTC hd2 2- HTC hd 3 … 10 other HTCs,
10 … 98 Now you can consider other phones
99 iphone 3Gs
100 iphone 2G
uhh, yeah any android phone (for ex. droid) without being hacked is more powerful than a jailbroken iphone. without hacking android gives you features apple would never, and with hacking you can truly customize an android phone to look and act however you can imagine.
They usually come really well packaged up. They don't just put the phone in a box and let it roll around in there until you get it. It'll come in it's own box which is put in another box for shipping. The phone won't be able to move around in there. No worries, you're phone will work just fine and it'll last!
ya, so does everyone else. unfortunately Verizon likes to screw people and say you don't need it, then poof, its on the bill. then when you call them and ask, they say it is REQUIRED for the phone, even though it is not, they just want more money.
