I keep it real, my cellphone is often mistaken for a huge black hanging down in my pants, a huge black house brick.
Cell phone plans from any provider are pretty easy to get if you have any credit at all. It's not like you're applying for a loan. As long as they see you have a credit history you should be fine.
If you have BAD credit you may be asked to put something like a $250 deposit on your account, but it would have to be pretty bad before that happens I think.
Pick a provider that you know has good coverage in your area, and then pick the phone/plan that you want. It doesn't matter if you have the coolest or newest phone in town if your coverage sucks and you can't use it anyway.
Anyone find it ridiculous that you cannot watch Youtube videos on cell phones? That is a huge inconvienience to cell phone users. I don`t carry the computer everywhere I go, but I do carry my cell phone everywhere I go.

If you're young and don't really need a cell phone to talk on (just for contacting friends or to keep in touch with people) virgin mobile is great for that. The minutes are cheap. And they offer phones for as cheap as $10. You can buy them at Target or Circut City, or from the internet too. I had one when they first came out and they are great phones. If you go with a plan from sprint or verizon, they'll give you a phone for free, but you have to be in contract for 2 years and they do credit checks and such. Also check the sprint store, you can so prepaid minutes, but the phones are expensive if you don't go into contract with them (around $200). Virgin is probably your best choice, but it's totally up to you! Happy talking!

Sony Ericsson's Walkman line of phones are great mobile phone/music player combo. But most of them only have mono speakers; better buy those speakers from the manufacurer themselves for better sound output. I don't really recommend those Moto phones w/ iTunes, they're hard to navigate and not the most user friendly phones out there.

I have an 11 year old and I know exactly how you feel. The best phone for an 11 year old is the Kyocera Strobe phone because you can guarantee that she and her friends will be texting to their hearts delights. The QWERTY keyboard gives them the option to text quickly… it's pretty popular with my daughter's friends because most of her friends have MetroPCS and have the Strobe. Good luck!
